Your Dad's favorite--the one he accuses me of only making once.
Ingredients:
1 1/2 pounds of pork steak
1 teaspoon paprika
2 Tablespoo shortening
Cut pork steak into 2" x 1/2" strips. Sprinkle with paprika and brown well in hot shortening over medium heat. Cover and cook until tender (3-5 minutes) Drain drippings.
Combine in a bowl:
3 Tablespoons brown sugar
1/4 cup instant dry milk
2 Tablespoons cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon salt
Combine:
Pineapple juice & water to make 2/3 cup (drain pineapple juice from pineapple tidbits to be used later)
1/3 cup vinegar
1 Tablespoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Gradually add liquids to dry ingredients and stir until smooth. Pour in skillet over drained pork steak and cook over low heat until thick & smooth. You may need to add water to achieve desired consistency.
Stir in:
1 green pepper, sliced
1 onion - sliced
1 can pineapple tidbits, drained
Cover and simmer 8-10 minutes until vegetables are tender but crisp. Server over hot rice.
